The event “Future of Denim” was arranged by the Swedish Fashion Council and denim producer ISKO in Stockholm. The event highlighted the future of jeans with a special focus on sustainability. Mistra Future Fashion’s Sigrid Barnekow was one of the speakers in a panel discussion to designers and visionaries from the fashion industry. Barnekow discussed the concept of “speed of usage” and how one of the designers’ tasks is to think about the future use of a garment as well as deposition already in the design phase. Additionally, the possibilities of using alternative materials, such as paper-based, within the production of clothes were highlighted. With great attendance, this was a day and evening full of inspiration and hope for a paradigm shift towards a sustainable future within the fashion industry.
