31 full papers from researchers around the world on the topic of circular transition within the fashion industry are now available for download. The papers were collected in conjunction with last year’s Circular Transitions conference in London and explore nine topics within the field. 

The Circular Transitions Academic Committee accepted over 50 papers for the conference. As a continuation of the event, and the discussion around circular economy, 31 full papers are now being published in a proceedings document. The proceedings document is compounded and edited by Prof Rebecca Earley and Dr Kate Golsworthy.

The proceedings document is divided up into nine themes; Materials, Models, Mindsets, Design and User Engagement, Finishing and 3D Technologies, Design Driven Material Innovation Interdisciplinary Research, Repair and Models for Reuse, Production Technologies and Lifecycle Thinking for Design.

It was in November 2016 The Circular Transitions conference on textile design and circular economy took place at Chelsea College of Arts and Tate Britain in London. The Conference was initiated by Mistra Future Fashion and organized by Dr. Kate Goldsworthy and Prof. Rebecca Earley from University of the Arts London. It was the first global event to bring together both academic and industry research concerned with designing fashion textiles for the circular economy.
